Oct 21, 2011 I've not seen a driver utility that lets you access / mount tape drives as a standard volume - it's pretty much the realm of backup software like Retrospect. And I'd really steer clear of Retrospect at this point - development on it really died when Roxio bought it from EMC, and the latest version for Mac still has issues that I would almost.
